Simon Ings
Simon Ings was born in 1965 in Horndean and educated at Churcher's College, Petersfield and at King's College London and Birkbeck College, London. He began his career writing science fiction stories, novels and films, before widening his brief to explore perception (The Eye: A Natural History), twentieth-century radical politics (The Weight of Numbers), the shipping system (Dead Water) and augmented reality (Wolves). In addition to a spot of mid-career ghostwriting , he co-founded and edited Arc magazine, a digital publication about the future, before joining New Scientist magazine as its arts editor. He splits his time between a penthouse in Dubai (not his) and a freezing cold flat in London, writing op-eds and reviews for the Spectator and the occasional broadsheet.
