Richard Elwes
Richard Elwes studied mathematics at the University of Oxford, before completing a PhD in mathematical logic at the University of Leeds, where he now works as an associate professor. A committed popularizer of maths and science, he is the author of six books for a general audience and has written articles for the Daily Telegraph, New Scientist and Plus magazine among others. He is a regular public speaker, addressing audiences big and small, from primary school workshops to research colloquia, and has taught a variety of undergraduate subjects, from number theory and geometry to the history of mathematics. His research interests span logic, network science and random processes. He is an active member of the European Mathematical Society, including serving for ten years as its publicity officer, and a Holgate session leader for the London Mathematical Society.
