Jillian Scudder
Jillian Scudder is an astrophysicist and associate professor at Oberlin College, with a PhD focusing on the changes wrought in galaxies as they collide with each other. She has been writing for the general public since 2013, delighting in the oddities of the Universe. She has written four books exploring the cosmos for the curious non-expert, including The Milky Way Smells of Rum and Raspberries… and Other Amazing Cosmic Facts and Astroquizzical: Solving the Cosmic Puzzles of Our Planets, Stars, and Galaxies – The Illustrated Edition (finalist in the 2023 AAAS/Subaru Prize for Excellence in Science Writing), with short-form writing appearing in Forbes, the Independent and Nautilus, among others. Her most recent book is Forty Ways to Know A Star.
