Felicia Keesing

Professor Felicia Keesing is an ecologist and the David & Rosalie Rose Distinguished Chair of the Sciences, Mathematics, and Computing at Bard College. Her work has been covered by the New York Times, The New Yorker, NPR and the Guardian. In 2000, she received a United States Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers from President Clinton. She is an elected Fellow of both the Ecological Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2020, her work was featured in the BBC’s Extinction, with Sir David Attenborough. In 2022, she received the International Cosmos Prize, and in 2023, she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship. The American Society of Mammalogists awarded her the C. Hart Merriam award in 2024 for her distinguished contributions to the study of mammals

Keesing is currently at work on a book titled Natural Defenses, to be published in 2027 by Princeton University Press (World English).
