Alex O’Brien
Alex O’Brien is a science writer, author, and internationally competitive poker player. Her work has appeared in The Guardian, BBC, New Scientist, and The Times, and she serves as vice-chair of the Association of British Science Writers. She founded the UK Young Science Writer Award to inspire state-educated young people to engage with STEM. Alex is the author of The Truth Detective, exploring how poker-thinking sharpens decision-making in everyday life. A frequent speaker and panellist, she blends science, strategy, and psychology to uncover the hidden logic behind the choices we make.
