Adam Kucharski
Adam Kucharski is an assistant professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and an award-winning science writer. Born in 1986, he studied at the University of Warwick before completing a PhD in mathematics at the University of Cambridge. His research spans topics ranging from statistics to social behaviour, and he has worked on outbreak analysis of influenza, Zika and Ebola. This work has been featured by the Guardian, BBC News, Time, the Times, El País, the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post, and he has been interviewed by BBC News, Channel 4 News, ITV News and Sky News.
In 2013, he was awarded a UK Medical Research Council Career Development Award and in 2017 he received a Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Dale Fellowship. Winner of the 2016 British Science Association Rosalind Franklin Award Lecture and the 2012 Wellcome Trust Science Writing Prize, he has written popular science articles for publications ranging from the Observer and Financial Times to Scientific American, Nautilus, Wired and New Statesman. He lives in London.
